Welcome to a space of warmth, understanding, and growth. I am Cheri Ford, a dedicated counsellor specializing in person-centered therapy, committed to guiding individuals, couples, and teens on their journey towards emotional well-being and improved relationships.

 

With a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, my approach is rooted in the belief that each person holds the key to their own healing. I blend the empathetic and non-directive principles of person-centred therapy with a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and positive psychology, to offer a holistic and tailored therapeutic experience.

 

My expertise lies in creating a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard and valued. Drawing from my background in education, I have a deep passion for assisting children and their families, both on an individual basis and within the family unit. I have extensive experience working with diverse cultural groups and navigating complex family dynamics within an educational context. Now, I am excited to extend that expertise to the field of counselling.

 

Having personally experienced the joys and challenges of immigrating from South Africa to Canada in 2019, I understands the complexities and transitions that accompany significant life changes. This firsthand understanding allows me to empathize with clients who are going through similar experiences.

 

My therapeutic foundation is Person-Centered, ensuring that your needs and goals are at the forefront of the counselling process. I provide support for anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, navigating gender and sexuality, and more by incorporating techniques from different modalities to suit your needs.
